This week, 3-time Olympic Gold medalist Shaun White announced ‘The Snow League’, a new multi-event contest circuit kicking off March 2025. For its first season, The Snow League will be exclusively Hafpipe, but the organisers have hinted at expanding into Slopestyle and Big Air in the coming years.
20 men and 16 women will be invited to participate in the five-event tour which will begin in North America and travel across the globe. The current prize purse is sitting at $1.5 million, not to be sniffed at by any means.
White says “After all my years competing in many different formats in the snowboarding space, I've come to realize that snowboarding and freeskiing athletes deserve a legit professional league. Beginning next year, The Snow League will give riders, freeskiers, and sports fans all over the world a destination for what I believe is the most exciting athletic competition in all of sports. Now is the moment to elevate the next generation of winter athletes who are pushing the limits of competition.”
With the start of this event, plus the new X Games League kicking off, we’re interested to see what this does to the fabric of professional snowboarding. Follow along with The Snow League via their Instagram here.
