Innsbruck, AUT (December 13, 2013) – The 15th annual Burton European Open presented by MINI will kick off the New Year with a bang: for the 10th time, Swiss freestyle destination LAAX will host the greatest European snowboard event from January 13th – 19th, 2014. The last 6Star TTR event on European soil before the Olympics will guarantee great snowboarding action before the world’s top riders head to Sochi.
Riders from all over the world
Riders from 22 countries across four continents have already registered for the open Halfpipe and Slopestyle events, hailing from all around the globe, including Chile, Argentina, Australia, Iceland, Spain, UK, Switzerland, Norway and also the US with BEO 2013 Junior winner Jake Pates. Check out the action beginning on Thursday of the event week when semi-finals start. Top seeded riders include Peetu Piiroinen (FIN), Enni Rukajärvi (FIN) and Christian Haller (SUI), as well as Alek Oestreng (NOR), Markus Malin (FIN), Isabel Derungs (SUI) and Queralt Castellet (SPA). Tension will build up for the finals on Saturday (Jan. 18th) and Sunday (Jan. 19th), where the best six women and 10 men will battle for a podium spot as well as a piece of the US$ 125.000 prize-money.
MINI Feature Award
MINI is once again the presenting partner of the Burton European Open and the Burton Global Event Series. For the third year in a row, MINI will host the 2014 MINI Feature Award competition, a special creative battle between the shape crews of the Burton European Open at LAAX and Snow Park Technologies at the 32nd Burton US Open in Vail, Colorado to see who can build the best slopestyle course feature. The park crew with the most creative MINI feature will win US$ 5.000 and plenty of street cred. LAAX or Vail, that is the question! LAAX took home the trophy in 2012, the SPT Crew in 2013, so the LAAX crew will work hard to convince the jury of judges and riders this year again.
Public Events at the BEO
Not only will there be lots of world-class snowboard competition action on the Halfpipe and Slopestyle courses, but the public is also invited to check out the Sponsor Villages up at Crap Sogn Gion mountain and down in the rocksresort.

Turn the wheel on the iPad App for the chance to take home prizes, including hand-painted Burton Custom Boards from MINI C-ART artist Andreas Preis. Andreas, an illustrator and graphic artist, is this year’s main performer for MINI’s art happening on the mountain – MINI C-ART – MINI SNOW BEASTS.
