Tamworth Snowdome, Europe’s first ever and the world’s second only indoor snow facility, celebrated it’s TWENTIETH birthday last week. Not only does that make me feel super old (I rode there the first week it opened, complete with pay-by-the-hour lift tickets and even a turnstile that accepted £1 coins if you wanted another go when your time ran out – which of douse we all did), but also super nostalgic. Tamworth, and the indoor facilities that came after it, have been CRUCIAL in the development of snowboarding in this country and it’s safe to say that the sport wouldn’t be anywhere like the level it is without them.
We sent Rich Clark to the 20th birthday party to make an edit and interview some of the faces that have helped put Tamworth Snowdome on the map. Here’s to another 20 years!
