Rhythm and the Black Bear Open

This press release just came through form the guys at Rhythm clothing. I wish we’d had known about it sooner because we’d like to have got a crew together to go!

This Saturday will see the “Black Bear Open” – a slopestyle competition on natural terrain – take place in Björkliden, inside the Arctic Circle in Sweden. The course is being built by Sweden’s longets established snowboard crew “Gälka Warriors”.

Creative and fun features like lianas, caves, a totem pole bonk, hips, spines, jumps etc all inspired by the comic books of the Phantom and his jungle friends will be set up in the off piste area called “Black Bear”. Check out the (slightly weird) promo video and be jealous when you realised that the event is sponsored by Jagermeister…

Friday’s side event “Spray and Play” will open the Black Bear weekend. The competitors battle each other in

– Shred or Dice

– Surf pose mania

– Bonky & Tonk

– Ollie to hell

The competition will be run as a jam format and everybody rides as much as they want during a two and a half hours session with the Grand final will be the “Ollie to hell” session.

Traditional Swedish dinners and parties will wrap up each event day. A highlight will be the perfomance of the band “High Voltage Humans” on saturday for the final after party.
