The snowboard world was stunned when it lost Jake Burton Carpenter, one of it’s founding fathers, to cancer on the 20th November 2019. We all knew that he’d been battling the bastard of all diseases but it seemed that it was a battle he had won, then all of a sudden he was gone.
But while Jake has gone, his legacy has not as he helped literally millions of us start snowboarding and change out lives forever. Now it’s time to celebrate his life of with ‘A Day for Jake’ worldwide. From the press release…
There are 13 resorts on board worldwide – all offering free lift tickets to snowboarders on March 13th in honour of Jake and snowboarding. Brands from across the industry, including K2, Ride, Dragon, Oakley, The North Face, Vans, Now, Yes, Rome, Bataleon, Nidecker, Flow and more are all participating in ‘A Day for Jake’. Pro riders from many snowboard brands will be at each participating resort. And we’re welcoming everyone to ride on March 13th wherever they can – at their local mountain, hiking in the backcountry or at one of the 13 participating resorts.
Please tell everybody you know who rides about A Day For Jake. The official hashtags for the event are: #dayforjake & #rideonjake.
